Tourist Attractions

The Kawagoe Warehouse District is known as Koedo Kawagoe, or “Little Edo”. One reason for this name is its preservation of culture and buildings from Edo-era Japan.

Seibuen Amusement Park - Reopening in 2021 with the new concept of "a world wrapped in heartwarming happiness." The nostalgic cityscape of the past will be recreated with overwhelming quality, pulling you into the world both through social interactions and food experiences! You can also expect the unexpected with exciting live performances suddenly taking place, further absorbing you in this nostalgic world. In addition, a new attraction has been introduced that offers an immersive and thrilling ride!   TOKOROZAWA SAKURA TOWN is one of the leading centers for Cool Japan and opened in November 2020. There is plenty to see here such as the landmark Kadokawa Culture Museum and the EJ Anime Hotelbuilt with the concept of "staying in your favorite story" in mind. There is also a shrine that was created with Kengo Kuma supervising its design, a dedicated e-sports facility, as well as other restaurants and stores to visit, making it a cultural hotspot with lots to do. 

In the Moomin theme park that reopened in December 2021, you can fully experience the world of Moomin, visit "Moomin House", the background of Moomin's daily life, experience various facilities with storylines, and enjoy Moomin. Live performances by Lumi's family and good friends, and interactions with Lumi's characters, maybe you will discover Lumi's new charm! The product styles in the souvenir shop are among the best in the world, and there are many original products sold only here.  

 Tove Jansson Akebono Children's Forest Park - A park with the theme being the world of Scandinavian fairy tales. With the park rich in green, unique buildings that may tickle one's imagination exist. Moreover, one can play freely in nature whilst feeling the fresh breeze and dappled sunlight, making it a space that brings relaxation to everyone.

Less than an hour's train ride from central Tokyo, Mt. Takao, or Takaosan as it is known in Japanese, is a well-loved hiking destination and antidote to the city. Whether you want to do some serious trekking or just take in the sights, Mt. Takao is the place to do it.

The Hakone Shrine has many torii gates, each with its own unique charm. The first torii gate is near the former Hakone Port, the third torii gate at the entrance of Hakone Shrine, the fourth torii gate at the bottom of the main approach (stone steps) leading to the main shrine buildings, and the "Peace Torii" standing in the waters of Lake Ashi all demonstrate the sacred and solemn nature of this divine realm. Particularly popular as a photo spot, the "Peace Torii" was erected in 1952 to commemorate the Imperial Investiture of the then-Crown Prince and the post-war peace treaty signed by Japan. The red torii gate floating on Lake Ashi, set against the blue sky and the Hakone Outer Rim mountains, is truly an iconic landscape of Hakone. 

Hakone Checkpoint is an important relic in the history of transportation in the Edo period. Its restoration was carried out using the techniques and tools of the craftsmen of the time, and it has reappeared on the shores of Lake Ashi after about 150 years. Its imposing appearance is impressive, and it feels as if you have been transported back to the Edo period. As a checkpoint, its location with a rich view makes it the perfect gateway for travel around Hakone and Lake Ashi.

Tucked away in the heart of Hakone is Ashinoko, a lake that formed in the caldera created after Mt. Hakone erupted 3,000 years ago. Famous for its impressive view of Mt. Fuji, which you can see on a clear day, Ashinoko is a must-see when visiting Hakone.

The result of a volcanic eruption over 3,000 years ago, Owakudani is a volcanic valley with active sulfur vents and hot springs. This area is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Hakone due to its volcanic activity and striking scenic viewsyou can even catch an amazing view of Mt. Fuji on a clear day. Due to volcanic gases, the area is sometimes closed, so check before you go. The Hakone Open-Air Museum is an outdoor sculpture gallery that plays with nature. Situated in the mountains of Hakone, it spreads across 70,000 square meters and has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. This art museum opened in 1969 and was the very first outdoor gallery in Japan. The museum is the perfect spot to go for a stroll surrounded by nature, all the while appreciating great art. Needless to say, it's a popular spot for impressive Instagram snaps.

Nestled in the lush greenery of Hakone’s Sengokuhara is the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, Japan’s first dedicated art museum showcasing Venetian glass. The garden overlooking Owakudani features a magnificent blend of seasonal blooms and shimmering crystal glass, inviting you to bask in the sunlight. After relishing the art in the galleries, enjoy laid-back moments at our museum shop or cafe-restaurant.  

 Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine - Dedicated to Hachiman, the guardian deity of samurai, this beautiful shrine has existed for over 800 years. Enjoy a peaceful respite and the gorgeous views on the approach.

The Tokyo Sea Life Park was completed in 1989 as a project to mark the 100th anniversary of Ueno Zoological Gardens in 1882. Featuring a signature glass dome, 30.7 meters high and seemingly floating above surrounding Tokyo Bay, it is a landmark venue for all lovers of aquatic life. Visitors can enjoy and discover around 600 species of fish and sea birds, as well as a range of innovations rarely found elsewhere. These include the tide pool tank, where visitors can touch seashore creatures, and one of Japan's largest penguin habitats.  

 The Shibamata area in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo has been selected by the Japanese country as one of Japan's representative tourist attractions. Among them, Shibamata Teishakuten Sando is one of the shopping streets that best embodies the style of Tokyo’s old streets. At the same time, Shibamata Teishokuten Sando is also well-known as the hometown of Torajiro, the protagonist of the Japanese film master Yamada Yoji's "It's Tough Being a Man". Ueno Park is one of Japan's five oldest public parks. Its famous for its excellent galleries and museums, the pandas at Ueno Zoo, the Shinobazu Pond, and the historic Ueno Toshogu Shrine, Ueno Park's cherry blossoms are what it's most famous for.

Sakura Furusato Square - The Dutch windmill standing in a sea of beautiful flowers is one of the symbolic landmarks of Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture. The fields of tulips in full bloom in April, sunflowers in July, and cosmos in October are so beautiful. During the best season for flower viewing, activities such as flower-picking experiences and sightseeing boat rides are also held. Every year, it attracts a large number of tourists to participate in the event, which is very lively. 

 One of the Kanto region's most impressive temple complexes - Walk along the winding Narita Omotesando shopping street to reach Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, otherwise known as Naritasan Shinshoji Temple or Naritasan, a sprawling temple complex that dates back to A.D. 940. Impressive architecture, a rich calendar of events and proximity to Narita International Airport make Naritasan Shinshoji Temple a worthy addition to any Tokyo layover.
