Beyond Copenhagen

North Zealand for Kronborg and Frederiksborg castles, Odense for Hans Christian Andersen, Aarhus for the ARoS museum, and the west coast of Jutland for wide beaches and migrating birds. Everything is within a few hours by train or car.

Timing

May to September. June is the best month — long light, everything open, and none of the July crowds. Winter is dark and cosy in a way that appeals to some travellers and not others.
