We plan private tours in New Zealand, mostly on the South Island. The South Island rewards a single line of travel: land in one city, drive across the passes, and fly out of the other end.

Routes we plan

Christchurch to Queenstown via Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook is the classic line; add the west coast glaciers and it becomes a longer loop. The North Island is usually a separate short trip around Auckland and the thermal country.

Practical points

The mountain passes can close in winter, and the popular huts and walks book out early. We plan around the season and tell you plainly which sections are weather-dependent.
