South Korea is compact, fast and easier to travel privately than most of Asia. Seoul rewards time — palaces, markets, a restaurant culture that runs late — while Busan gives you coast and seafood, and Jeju an island with a volcanic landscape of its own.
High-speed rail connects Seoul and Busan in under three hours, which makes a two-city itinerary practical in a week. Jeju is a short flight from either.
Seoul — palaces, markets and food
Gyeongbokgung and Bukchon, Insadong, and the food districts from Gwangjang market to Apgujeong. Three or four days minimum.
Busan — coast and seafood
Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches, Gamcheon culture village, Jagalchi fish market, and the coastal temples at Haedong Yonggungsa.
Jeju — the volcanic island
Hallasan, the lava tubes, Seongsan Ilchulbong at sunrise, and a coastline that changes every twenty minutes by car. Two or three days.
