Collection: Tibet

Tibet is a high-altitude journey where the logistics matter as much as the sights. Permits, a licensed guide, a fixed vehicle and a sensible acclimatisation schedule are not optional — they are the difference between a good trip and a miserable one.

What a journey looks like

Lhasa for the Jokhang, the Potala and the monasteries, then west along the Friendship Highway to Shigatse, Sakya, and Everest Base Camp at 5,200 metres. Further west, Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar for travellers with more time and a taste for remoteness.

Altitude

Lhasa sits at 3,650 metres. We build two or three days of low activity at the start, and we do not schedule Everest Base Camp before the body has adjusted. This is the single most common mistake in Tibet itineraries.
