Tourist Attractions
Located in the northwestern area of Kyoto, Arashiyama draws many visitors for its world-renowned bamboo grove and beautiful scenery that changes with each season. The area is dotted with temples, old imperial villas, and famous historical sites, many of which are National Treasures, or have been recognized as World Heritage sites. The entire region is designated by the Japanese government as a Place of Scenic Beauty.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple, founded in 778, is one of the significant religious sites of the Heian period in Japan. The temple is renowned for its unique architectural style and magnificent scenery. Its most famous feature is the "Kiyomizu Stage," a wooden outdoor stage with a cantilevered structure built on a steep slope, offering spectacular views. The stage also houses a three-story Zen temple named "Hondo," dedicated to the Bodhisattva Kannon.
Inecho, with its long history, is nestled tightly between the mountains and Ine Bay. In ancient times, this area was situated on the trade route from mainland China to Kyoto, which led to the development of Ine as a town primarily focused on fishing. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in Japan in terms of scenery.
Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sandbar famous for having one of Japan's three scenic views, along with Matsushima in Miyagi Prefecture and Miyajima in Hiroshima Prefecture. This natural bridge links both sides of Miyazu Bay in northern Kyoto Prefecture, and is part of a national park. Amanohashidate translates to “bridge to heaven” because it appears to be a pathway connecting heaven and earth when viewed from the mountains that rise above it on either side.

Miyama is a historic village that has been preserved since the Edo period and is one of Japan's three major thatched-roof house settlements. Due to its remote location and limited transportation in ancient times, it developed as an isolated village. To this day, it retains its authentic Japanese village atmosphere. Miyama has been designated as an important area for the preservation of traditional architectural groups.

The Kifune Shrine, with over 1600 years of history, is a complex consisting of three shrines located at different positions on the mountainside. The stone steps leading to the Kifune Shrine are lined with numerous red lanterns, making it the most iconic photo spot of the shrine.
