Okinawa Private Tour: Naha, Churaumi and the Outer Islands
Okinawa is Japan with a different pace: a subtropical island chain where a car is not a luxury but the only practical way to reach most beaches, capes and castle ruins.
Charter or private tour
Charter gives you a vehicle and driver for the day. Private tour adds a guide and a planned route. Both are one party per vehicle.
Distances on the main island
- Naha Airport to Naha city: about 20 minutes.
- Naha to Churaumi Aquarium: about 2 hours by road.
- Naha to Cape Manzamo: about 1 hour.
- Naha to Shurijo Castle Park: about 30 minutes.
Three ways to use the days
South, 1 day: Shurijo, Kokusai Street, the peace memorial parks.
Central, 1 day: American Village, Cape Manzamo, Ryukyu glass workshops.
North, 1 day: Churaumi Aquarium, Kouri Island and the northern forests.
Outer islands
Ishigaki and Miyako are reached by domestic flight, not by car. We arrange the main-island portion and can plan the connection.
Season
Swimming season runs roughly April to October. July and August are hot and busy; May and June are quieter with the rainy season ending in late June.
FAQ
Do we need an international driving permit? If you want self-drive, yes; our charters include a driver instead.
Can you pick up at Naha Airport? Yes, airport pickup is the usual start.
Is Churaumi doable in half a day? The drive alone is 2 hours each way from Naha; a full day works better.
Can we visit more than one island in a day? Not by road — outer islands need flights.
What about typhoon season? August and September can bring storms; we build flexible dates into the plan.
