Choosing Your Chubu Tour Length
Six days in the Shirakawa-go area gives you room to move between gardens, gorge scenery and preserved Edo-period streets without rushing. The itinerary draws on places such as Nabana no Sato, Tsukechi Gorge and Shirakawa-go itself, where the Gassho-zukuri thatched-roof houses remain part of a living village. A six-day length suits travellers who want a steady pace with time at each stop, and who are content to cover a handful of areas rather than the whole region. Our five-day version concentrates on fewer places in the same area, so each day covers more ground; the seven-day and eight-day versions add more places and allow a more relaxed pace, with longer stays at stops such as Gero onsen or Magomejuku. Private guiding throughout.

Nabana no Sato - One of the largest illumination and gardens in Japan.

Enakyo - A breathtaking landscape dotted with peculiar rock formations and towering cliffs.

Magomejuku preserves the appearance of a Japanese Edo period posttown.

Tsukechi Gorge, which has been selected as one of "Japan's Top 100 Forest Bathing Spots," "Gifu Prefecture's Top 50 Clear Water Sites," and "Hida-Mino's Top 33 Autumn Foliage Spots," boasts a unique and pristine environment with its ancient cedar forest and crystal-clear water sources.

Gero onsen is one of the three most famous hot springs in Japan.

Hida Furukawa is a famous animated movie town that is vibrant in traditional Japanese culture.

Bokka no Sato - A hands-on theme park where you can enjoy seasonal flowers and get up close with small animals all year round.

Shirakawa-go is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its "Gassho-zukuri" traditional thatched-roof houses. It has preserved over 100 of these unique architectural structures, and to this day, it remains a living village with residents.

Sanmachi Historic District - A street that has been preserved to this day from the Edo period.

Gujo Hachiman is located upstream of the Nagara River and is famous for its selected pristine spring water called "Sogi Water" and the summer festival dance known as "Gujō Odori."

The Monet's Pond resembles a real-life version of Monet's famous work "Water Lilies."

Gifu Castle, located on the banks of the Nagara River at the foot of Mount Kinka, is one of the most magnificent castles in Japan with its breathtaking views.
Chubu Tour Length: Common Questions
Why choose six days rather than the five-day version?
The five-day version keeps to fewer places in the same area, so travel between stops takes up more of each day. Six days spreads the same ground across an extra day, letting you spend longer at Nabana no Sato or Tsukechi Gorge and keep the pace steady rather than compressed.
Would the seven-day or eight-day version suit me better?
If you want to add more places to the same trip and move at a more relaxed pace, the seven-day and eight-day versions do that. They cover more of the region around Shirakawa-go, with extra time at stops such as Gero onsen, Hida Furukawa or Gujo Hachiman. Six days suits travellers with a fixed week.
Who is the six-day tour designed for?
It suits travellers who prefer a steady pace over a full week, including families and couples travelling privately. You see gardens, gorge scenery, a preserved posttown and the Gassho-zukuri village without long days in the vehicle. Those wanting a shorter break can take the five-day version; those with more time can extend.
