Five days in Shikoku suits travellers who want a private, unhurried look at the region without committing to a longer itinerary. The pace is comfortable: one or two areas a day, with time to walk rather than rush. You can take in Ritsurin Garden, the feudal strolling garden completed in 1745, climb partway up the stone steps of Kotohira-gu Shrine, and follow the Niyodo River where the water shows its cobalt "Niyodo Blue". Our 6-, 7- and 8-day Shikoku tours keep the same private style but add more places and a more relaxed pace, with fewer moves in a single day; the 5-day version is tighter, so it fits a shorter leave period. Travellers with more time often prefer the longer versions for a gentler rhythm.
Ritsurin Garden, a feudal strolling garden over 100 years in the making, was finally completed in 1745. Designated a “Special Place of Scenic Beauty”, Ritsurin Garden is recognized as a national treasure.
Kotohira-gu Shrine - The god of the sea has been popularly known as "Konpira-san" since ancient times. The approach is famous for its long stone steps, with 785 steps from the entrance to the main shrine and 1,368 steps to the inner shrine.
The Niyodo River is often praised as the most beautiful river in Japan. The water is clear and has a mysterious and dreamy cobalt-blue color. People call this blue "Niyodo Blue".
Vine Bridge in the Iya Valley is known as one of Japan's three strange bridges.
Oboke-Koboke is an approximately 8km-long valley created by the torrents of the Yoshino River that crossed the Shikoku Mountains over 200 million years and boasts a beautiful landscape that looks like a towering marble sculpture.

Rows of houses are "Udatsu ", symbolizing the wealthy merchants of the past. This streetscape was selected as an important preservation area for traditional buildings in Japan.
The Awa Sand Pillars are said to be one of the ``three greatest wonders of the world,'' along with the earthen pillars of the Rocky Mountains in the United States and the Tyrol region of Italy.
Naruto Whirlpool - Among the three major whirlpools in the world, the one where you can see whirlpools up to 20 meters in diameter is the "Naruto Strait".

The 5-day itinerary is the shortest Shikoku tour we run, so it fits a tighter leave allowance. It concentrates on a smaller set of places, such as Ritsurin Garden and Kotohira-gu Shrine, with a steady but manageable pace. Choose it if your dates are fixed and you still want a private vehicle and guide.
What do the 6-, 7- and 8-day versions add?
They keep the same private format and add more places, with a more relaxed pace and fewer transfers each day. Longer tours leave room for stops such as the Niyodo River and the Oboke-Koboke valley alongside the gardens and shrines, so you spend less time moving between areas.
Who does the 5-day Shikoku tour suit?
It suits travellers on a short break who prefer a private car and guide to group travel, and who are happy to cover fewer places in exchange for a steady rhythm.
