Tourist Attractions

Ritsurin Garden, a feudal strolling garden over 100 years in the making, was finally completed in 1745. Designated a “Special Place of Scenic Beauty”, Ritsurin Garden is recognized as a national treasure.

Kotohira-gu Shrine - The god of the sea has been popularly known as "Konpira-san" since ancient times. The approach is famous for its long stone steps, with 785 steps from the entrance to the main shrine and 1,368 steps to the inner shrine.

The Niyodo River is often praised as the most beautiful river in Japan. The water is clear and has a mysterious and dreamy cobalt-blue color. People call this blue "Niyodo Blue".

Vine Bridge in the Iya Valley is known as one of Japan's three strange bridges.

Oboke-Koboke is an approximately 8km-long valley created by the torrents of the Yoshino River that crossed the Shikoku Mountains over 200 million years and boasts a beautiful landscape that looks like a towering marble sculpture.

Minamimachi-dori, the town of indigo trade that has prospered since the mid-Edo period, has been prosperous due to silkworm cocoons. Rows of houses are "Udatsu ", symbolizing the wealthy merchants of the past. This streetscape was selected as an important preservation area for traditional buildings in Japan.

The Awa Sand Pillars are said to be one of the ``three greatest wonders of the world,'' along with the earthen pillars of the Rocky Mountains in the United States and the Tyrol region of Italy.

Naruto Whirlpool - Among the three major whirlpools in the world, the one where you can see whirlpools up to 20 meters in diameter is the "Naruto Strait".
