What the ryokan is like

Staying at KAI Sengokuhara is a hot spring ryokan experience with private outdoor baths on the terraces of each room. The ryokan offers vast natural vistas and artwork designed to instil guests with creative passion. The onsen is fed by milky-white volcanic hot spring waters, with both a hot bath and a pleasantly lukewarm bath; at night, the water garden adjacent to the outdoor bath becomes a glow stone-illuminated work of art. There are 16 rooms for one to three guests, and the KAI Signature Rooms offer a deeper dive into local culture, with rooms adorned with works produced by artists who have actually stayed at the ryokan.

Kaiseki dinners consist of imaginatively presented dishes—such as a smoke dish meant to evoke Owakudani, a nearby volcanic valley—served on artistically designed dishware. The ryokan has one restaurant and two cafés or lounges.
