Skov River Resort — 廣州森林海温泉度假酒店 — is a five-star hot-spring resort in Zengcheng, on the northern edge of Guangzhou, built against the foot of Nankun Mountain and beside the Baishuizhai waterfall. Two things make it unusual: a Venice-style waterway runs past the ground-floor rooms, so you step out of your door into water, and every room is plumbed with natural hot-spring water. Package stays include breakfast and unlimited access to the outdoor hot spring.

The name is worth unpacking. The Chinese is 森林海溫泉度假酒店 — literally "forest-sea hot-spring resort" — and it is not marketing: the estate sits in a bowl of forested hills, with a lake at its centre and the white ribbon of the Baishuizhai falls visible from the front plaza. The English name, Skov River Resort, comes from the operator, and the international booking platforms list the two as the same property.
Where it is
The address is 廣州市增城區派潭鎮白水寨 — Paitan Town, Zengcheng District, Guangzhou, immediately beside the AAAA-rated Baishuizhai (White Water Village) scenic area and connected to Nankun Mountain. That is roughly 1.5 hours by road from central Guangzhou and around 2.5 to 3 hours from Hong Kong by car or high-speed rail plus transfer.
Zengcheng is Guangzhou's hot-spring belt — the hills here are what Guangdong residents mean by a weekend away. The setting is genuinely green: four aspects of the estate open onto lake, mountain or garden views, and the front plaza faces the waterfall head-on.

The rooms, and the water
Two features define the accommodation. First, the waterway: the ground-floor rooms open directly onto a canal that threads between the buildings, so the "swim from your door" arrangement you see in the photographs is an actual room category and not a pool you have to walk to. Second, the hot spring: natural thermal water is piped into the rooms, and many categories add a private terrace tub on top of that.
Room categories run from mountain-view hot-spring rooms up through lake-view and waterfall-view rooms to family rooms with a garden or waterfall outlook. The resort also keeps a cluster of thatched-roof villas for guests who want a standalone unit rather than a hotel room, and — this one is aimed squarely at families — some rooms are fitted with an internal slide and climbing net.

What there is to do on the estate
This is a resort you can spend two or three days inside without leaving, which is the point of driving this far. The outdoor mineral hot-spring pools are set into rock and planting across the hillside. Beyond those: a large indoor water park under a glass dome, a wave pool and slides, an artificial white-sand beach, an indoor swimming pool, a lake with water sports, a spa and sauna, a tea room, KTV, and a greenway that loops the lake.

What is included
Every package bundles the room, twin breakfast and unlimited outdoor hot-spring access — the differences between the packages are in the room category and the extras, not in what the hot spring itself costs.
The packages are worth reading carefully, because they differ more than the headline suggests. The entry package covers a mountain-view hot-spring room for one night with twin breakfast, unlimited outdoor hot spring, the private terrace tub, the Venice waterway and the water park. Lake and waterfall-view rooms change the outlook; family rooms add the children's slide room configurations; the dinner-inclusive package adds an evening meal. Longer stays are bundled as one package rather than arranged night by night. Whichever category you pick, the same core applies: the room, breakfast and unlimited outdoor hot-spring access, plus free run of the water park, the artificial beach and the Venice-style waterways for the length of your stay.
What to know before you book
Three honest caveats.
The packages are non-refundable. Klook lists them as 不予退改 — no cancellation, no changes. Given the drive involved, check your dates before you commit rather than after.
It is a large, busy, family resort, not a quiet onsen. With a water park, an artificial beach and children's slide rooms, the estate is built for families and groups. If you want stillness, the weekday shoulder season is a different hotel from a school-holiday weekend.
You need transport from Guangzhou or Hong Kong. Zengcheng is not a walkable location; the last leg is a drive. Hong Kong guests typically take the high-speed rail to Guangzhou and arrange a car, which is also where we can help — our Guangzhou itineraries include Conghua and this side of the province.
