Copenhagen to Helsingør is about 45 minutes by road. Copenhagen to Roskilde roughly 30 minutes. Copenhagen to Aarhus about three hours by road or three by train. Aarhus to Skagen about two and a half hours.

When to come

May to September for long evenings and the beaches; June's midsummer takes over the whole country. December for Tivoli and the Christmas markets. Winter is dark, cold and quiet — museums are the point then.

No. Bikes, metro and walking cover the city. The car starts for the castles and the coast.

Can we drive to Sweden?

Yes — the Øresund bridge connects Copenhagen to Malmö in about 40 minutes. Passport rules depend on your nationality, and we check before including it.

How far is Aarhus?

About three hours by road or by train. It works best as a stop on a Jutland loop rather than a day trip.

Is Skagen worth the drive?

In summer, yes — the light and the two seas meeting are the reason painters went there. In winter, no.
